The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe. ESN was founded in 1989 with the goal of supporting and developing student exchange. ESN is situated in 37 countries spread over 460 local sections throughout all of Europe. The network is constantly developing and expanding. ESN operates on three different levels; local, national and international

The main focus lies on current exchange students to help them on their way in finding friends in a new city. Therefore ESN offers help in academic, social and practical integration processes. This is mainly done through activities in the local sections, which include cultural and social events such as trips to various places in the country, film nights, buddy groups, international food festivities and last but not least, parties! In addition to that, many sections have introduced mentor systems, which help the international students mainly in academic and practical integration. ESN also provides relevant information and encourages the future exchange students to gain international experience and insight into different cultures.
